A day after the final presidential debate of the 2016 election, candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are attending a white-tie dinner Thursday night in New York City.
The formal Al Smith Dinner — a fundraiser for Catholic charities connected to the Archdiocese of New York — is traditionally the last time the major party candidates share a stage before the election. The candidates also typically attempt a comedy routine, poking fun at their rival.
Thursday's dinner comes a day after Trump and Clinton traded a series of barbs at Wednesday's debate in Las Vegas. Most notably, Trump called the election "rigged" and refused to promise that he would abide by the results of the November vote. Clinton called Trump's comments "horrifying."
