The Texas senator is seeking to energize supporters and stop Donald Trump from clinching the GOP nomination.
Ted Cruz is expected to announce Wednesday that he has chosen Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive, as his running mate, in an unusual move designed to energize voters as he seeks to stop frontrunner Donald Trump from becoming the Republican nominee for president.
The rally in Indianapolis on Wednesday afternoon was earlier teased by the Cruz campaign as containing a "major announcement."
The event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. ET.

Fiorina, the only woman to have competed in this 2016 Republican primary, dropped out of the race in February following a disappointing showing in the New Hampshire primary.
She endorsed the Texas senator in March, describing Cruz as "the only one who can beat Donald Trump."
After Trump swept Tuesday's primaries in five states, it became mathematically impossible for Cruz to achieve the required number of delegates to clinch the GOP nomination.
He and Ohio Gov. John Kasich hope to halt Trump's success in upcoming contests, particularly in Indiana and California, leading to a contested Republican convention.
